Abstract

A Drone is an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) that is a small aircraft with no pilot on board, available in different sizes – ranging from real aircrafts to small toys.

Use of drones in precision agriculture, aerial surveillance and efficient delivery of services is quickly transforming a futuristic vision of autonomous vehicles into a reality. Recent technological advances in Internet of Things (IoT), Computer Vision, Data Analytics and miniaturization of hardware have made possible several such novel applications of UAVs beyond military use.

Drone data is adding a new horizon to research in Big Data Analytics as well. The video feed from drones provide interesting technical challenges. Advanced image processing, pattern recognition, artificial intelligence, predictive analytics, deep learning, IoT, visual computing and GPU-optimized analytics are becoming hot topics of research today.

Novel applications around drones are also emerging. Business applications using the geo-spatial drone data are enabling enterprises to enhance their customer value proposition. Drones have been used to help save wild life in South Africa, control the crowd in Kumbhamela, detect diseased crops and so on.
It is time for all technologists and business leaders to come together and discuss these emerging deep technologies, associated business landscape and be ready to ride this New Wave of Drone Computing.

IEEE Computer Society Bangalore Chapter is proud to present to you a Technical Symposium on Drone Computing, its Flagship event on a promising cutting-edge technical topic. The symposium will bring together experts from industry and academia and innovative ideas from innovators to create an atmosphere of learning and knowledge sharing for everyone.

The Symposium agenda will include panel discussions on technology and business landscape, case studies from practitioners and deep technical talks and hands-on workshops from experts in the field. The symposium will also provide a platform for students and engineers to present their novel ideas in Poster and Demo sessions.

Looking forward to meet you in the workshop.
